The Birth Of The Renaissance Era - 1093 Words

During the birth of the Renaissance era there were many prominent people to have come out of Florence. Some of the greatest poets, artists, orators, and statesmen to live were alive and flourishing during this time period and they all seem to share one common set of ideals that set them apart and distinguish them from others of this era. This set of common set of principles would come to be know as the â€Å"universal man†. A man that was truly from the time and was all about patriotism and love for his birthplace. They all seem to have a general set of common attributes about them and Buonaccorso Pitti is no different. There are three features of Pitt’s diary that demonstrate that he was in a fact a Renaissance man: The first being, his love for adventure and his financial ability to be successful, the next being his ability to converse with anyone of any social status, and the final, perhaps most important is his love and devotion for the Republic of Florence. So, the question at hand is, does Buonaccorso Pitti live up to the ideals and characteristics of the â€Å"ideal† Renaissance man? The answer is yes, and it can thoroughly be seen throughout his family diary. Starting with the very beginning of this record, Pitti strikes you as a very audacious individual, who likes nothing more than to travel around enjoying the company of the upper echelon in society and taking his chances by gambling with his money. Even when he appears to run out of currency of his own, he still somehowShow MoreRelatedThe Renaissance Era Was A Prosperous Time For Art From1359 Words   |  6 Pages The Renaissance era was a prosperous time for art from the 15th century to 17th century. Concert Review free essay sample

Despite slavery legally ending in 1865, African Americans still didnt have the same rights as white Americans. Jazz was music that both black and white people could enjoy. By the 1 9205, Jazz was growing in popularity and Included Influences from Europe as well as Africa (Washington Post). The Jazz Band featured a series of special guests such as Johnny Gonzales (Saxophone), Dennis Dotson (Trumpet), and Bobby Guess (Bass Trombone). Highs Blues Is a tune that was composed by Jeff Jarvis. The primary Instrumentalists were Jeff Lam with the Vibes, Kali Pinions with the Alto Sax, Ray Hills with the Piano, Ashley Flowers with the Trumpet, and Jimmy Banks with the Guitar. This pieces dynamic or volume was fortissimo and/or very loud. The melody seemed to have been fairly conjunct with metered rhythm. The texture was apparently homophobic with a thick texture. Cantaloupe Island Is a tune that was composed by Hancock. The second song is â€Å"Rainy Day Tuesday† This mellifluous melody is composed by Tan Ming Tuan and lyrics is written by James Guk. This upbeat piece is inspired by another local band Amnesia Haze. In this song, an English style consonance set the upbeat mood at the beginning of this song. A piano and guitar then alternated the melody of the song and built up the â€Å"lazy† mood, making audiences really feel as if they are lazing in bed in a rainy Tuesday afternoon. As the song heated up, the arrangement changed within the song as the saxophone took the melody and the guitar and other instruments within the band were in accompaniment. The rhythm, which was continuously steady throughout the song, seemed to get faster like a heartbeat of a runner by the climax of the song. It was also at this point that the dynamics of the song were increasingly getting louder until all instruments met at the top with a bang and then changed the dynamics again to a moderate level until the song concluded. By the end of the song, the crowd seemed like they were left in a state of trance as they were too absorbed into the music. The last song I would like to touch on is â€Å"Feet on the Ground†, written by Greg Sim. The song started out with very dissonant tones within the harmony, before changing into a more consonant, slow beat song. The song employs a double backbeat pattern, which is pretty unique. For me, this was a song of romance and passion and I seem to be able to connect with this song. The classical guitar, piano, and saxophone took turns at the melody. The flow of the song was smooth, and the dynamics were soft and then it gradually increased in the middle of the song, before a decrescendo to a softer level towards the end of the song. This song has a very catchy tune to it, and you could see the crowd singing along with the lead singer halfway through the song. This song reminded me of the classic standard song â€Å"Fly Me to the Moon† written by Bart Howard in 1954 in the sense that it was able to convey a story with the song. This song is definitely my favourite among the nine songs performed that night. The Straight Groove concert at The Arts House was definitely a lovely and memorable evening filled with great music. However, one huge letdown was the venue of the concert. The sound system at The Arts House were definitely far from being state of the art quality. Due to this, the concert was not as impactful as it would have been. Nevertheless one thing I loved about this concert was the ability of the band to blend in so many different genres of music into their songs. The degree of diversification was astonishing. This explains why they call themselves an †Indie Pop Blues Jazz Rock† band. Personally, I feel that musicians have to diversify and be open minded about music. I am very amazed by how millions of songs can be composed by using only practically only 12 notes. If all musicians were to stick to the genre of music they like and are not willing to explore different genres of music, then the world of music would be so much less colourful.

Panic At The Disco ; Pretty. Odd. free essay sample

Panic At The Disco Pretty. Odd. Panic At The Disco has four members; Brandon Urie, Ryan Ross, Jon Walker, and Spencer Smith. The band’s CD â€Å"Pretty. Odd.† perfectly pieces itself together. The artwork throughout the album matches the title, along with the tracks. Listening to the CD sounds only a morsel old-fashioned, making it intricately unique. Even though, listening intently to the tempo and the instruments being used boosts its enjoyment level. For being a band and genre of alternative, the music sounds a bit â€Å"folk-like.† The entire CD is an amazing example of the title, â€Å"Pretty. Odd.† The song favored among my friends, â€Å"Nine In The Afternoon† was meant to sound awkward, for how is there a nine in the afternoon? The string of lyrics, â€Å"your eyes are the size of the moon† sounds impossible unless you figure it is a metaphor. â€Å"Pretty. Odd.† is relaxing with an upbeat tempo. If you find your interest is in unusual music, â€Å"Pretty. Odd.† is the way to go.
